Lahore/Aleteia (Aleteia.org/ar) – Christians Suhayl Johnson and Yusuf Kamiran were accused of murdering alleged terrorists after two churches in Lahore, Pakistan were targeted and attacked on March 15. Local sources indicated to the Fides News Agency that the suspects are currently incarcerated with 150 others after the police conducted a chain of raids and interrogations to determine the identity of those responsible for the murders.
The police are in possession of video that was taken by eye witnesses that were at the scene of the crime during these awful moments with their cell phones. Clergy condemned the practice of revenge carried out by Christians. A Christian named Harun Barakat Masih, President of the Christian Foundation, and a Christian activist promoting minority rights in Pakistan said, “All of those innocent individuals who are still detained must be released. We are being treated as though we are criminals in the justice system that should be treating everyone equally.” The organization’s lawyer had requested bail for the large number of the innocent detainees, but bail was not granted for most of these people until now. The citizens in Youhanabad are still in a state of shock. Suhayl Johnson, one of the alleged defendants was the president of a non-governmental organization that assisted poor Christians in Pakistan.
