VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis today appealed for prayer and action after the brutal beheading of 21 Egyptian Copts by ISIS forces along the Libyan coast on Sunday.
In a special message following his Wednesday General Audience, the Pope prayed for the souls of the 21 Egyptian Copts, saying: “They were killed solely because they were Christians.”
He also asked the Lord to comfort the families and communities of those who were killed and urged the international community to find a peaceful solution to the situation in Libya.
