Everyone knows the popular carol, Silent Night. It was composed in Austria in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber, a school master and organist, to lyrics by Fr. Joseph Mohr, a young priest. Both performed it during a Christmas eve Mass the same year. Singers from every music genre have recorded and performed Silent Night ever since then, including Pentatonix, a five piece a cappella group from Texas known for their contemporary recreations of popular songs.
