Ethiopia is considered the birthplace of coffee. According to legend, there was once a shepherd who noticed a goat always feeding on a certain plant. This goat was bigger than the rest and made strange noises, so the shepherd followed the goat to find out what he was eating — he tasted it and the rest is history. Throughout Ethiopia, coffee ceremonies are part of the daily rhythm of life, a way for people to come together, celebrate, and relax. Coffee is everything to Ethiopians — in some places it is their only production. Cooperatives make it possible for coffee farmers to unite their efforts and make a living. This video tells the story of how coffee blesses an entire nation. You won’t look at your cup of Joe quite the same way again.
