This means we must always be keenly aware that we are not bishops, priests or deacons because we are more intelligent, more talented and better than others, but only because of a gift, a gift of love bestowed by God in the power of his Spirit, for the good of his people. This awareness is truly important and is a grace we should ask for every day! In fact, a pastor who is aware that his ministry flows only from the mercy and the heart of God can never assume an authoritarian attitude, as though everyone were at his feet and the community were his property, his personal kingdom.
