What Should Catholics Do About Refugees?

Aleteia - published on 11/06/14

Vatican expert explains how we can help those who have lost their homeland.

We read and watch their stories in the news—refugees from Syria, Iraq, and other places around the world who’ve been driven from their homes for cultural, religious, and political reasons. Many of them will never be able to return to their homelands and find themselves caught in a no-man’s land, often living in unbearable conditions and separated from loved ones.

According to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), at least 10 million people today are victims of statelessness. How can people of faith respond to those who find themselves without a homeland? In this video, Father Frans Thoolen, SMA, an expert for the Holy See on migration and refugee issues, tells us what he thinks Catholics should do.
